ORAL APPLIANCE & SLEEP APNEA

As an alternative to CPAP therapy, an oral appliance is a small device that is worn
in the mouth, much like a sports retainer. These devices help prevent the collapse
of the tongue and soft tissues in the back of the throat, keeping the airway open during
sleep and promoting adequate air intake.

WORKING WITH A DENTIST

Dentists with training in oral appliance therapy are familiar with the various designs
of appliances. They can determine which one is best suited for your specific needs.
Dr. Goyer will work with your physician as part of the medical team in your diagnosis, treatment, and on-going care.

Treatment with an oral appliance includes examination, evaluation to determine the most appropriate oral appliance, fitting, and maximizing the adaptation and function of the
appliance. For more information, please download our brochure or call the office
to schedule a complimentary consultation appointment.

INSURANCE & BILLING

Your medical insurance is billed for the oral appliance; therefore, dental benefits are not
affected by this procedure. Additionally, we will be able to bill Medicare for the appliance.
We will pre-authorize or estimate your benefits and co-pay before treatment is initiated.
